EP 28: RASHAD CAMPBELL

Rashad Campbell is an athlete and businessman

Guest Host: Brandon Chubb

Rashad Campbell is an athlete and businessman. He graduated from Cornell University and played Defensive Back on the football team, where as a senior he set an Ivy League record for kick return yards in a season and became the only Ivy player with multiple returns for a score. His 1,921 career kickoff return yards ranks third all-time in the Ivy League. Football has been a consistent thread throughout his family (brother Ibraheim plays for the Indianapolis Colts) and we discuss being a football player and where that can take you, and how Rashad has found many business and corporate environments are similar to the game of football. Rashad has transitioned from football to a financial career, first in selling alternative investments, and now as Partner at Team Altemus where he works directly with athletes from a financial perspective.

We Discussed:

  • Rashad growing up in Philadelphia
  • His time at Cornell, and how the power of the Ivy League and the alumni base impacts his business to this day
  • Transitioning from football into selling alternative investments in a private equity firm
  • How important team dynamics are on and off the field
  • Background of Team Altemus, where Rashad is Partner, and how Team Altemus works with college teams and athletes in preparing them for life after college
  • The implications of NIL (Name Image Likeness) and what Team Altemus is doing within the NIL space
  • Opportunity Cost, especially as an athlete
  • How to prepare student athletes for the future
